Fiat was formed in Turin, Italy in 1899. Its first factory employed 150 workers and produced 24 models. Today Fiat is Italy’s largest industrial group and Fiat Auto has a quarterly turnover of over 4 billion Euros.
The Fiat Logo, designed by Biscaretti, was adopted in 1904 and production was expanded to include commercial vehicles, marine engines, trucks and trams.
Fiat has strong links with Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, and Maserati – all highly successful marques who have their own distinctive Italian style. Fiat’s automotive design and safety centres are located in Turin. These facilities are amongst the world’s best and include some of the automotive industry’s most advanced equipment.
